The USDA Summer Meals for Kids program hosted by the City Richmond Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Facilities will begin serving summer meals on Monday, June 15 at more than 100 sites. The Summer Meals for Kids program provides children and teens (through the age of 18) nutritious breakfasts and lunches at selected sites during the summer months. These free meals are available by visiting any participating site at meal time. No registration is required.

Mayor Dwight C. Jones, First Lady of Virginia Dorothy McAuliffe,
and Councilmember Chris Hilbert of the 3rd Voter District.

The Summer Meals for Kids program was established by the United States Department of Agriculture to ensure that children had access to healthy meals during the summer months. In the Richmond metro area, the program operates Monday through Friday, June 15 through August 28.
“The goal of the USDA Summer Meals for Kids program is to ensure that no young person will be hungry this summer as many children may only obtain healthy meals during the school year,” said Dr. Norman C. Merrifield, director of Richmond’s Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Facilities.
